‘Welsh Corgi’ - Pastel

Animals have always been an important part of my life and I relish the challenge of trying to capture their unique personalities and characteristics through art. Pastels I find lend themselves perfectly to animal fur but I also enjoy exploring various mediums, however, the seemingly simple pencil is one of my favourites, even though each piece takes many hours of work. I like the way I can control the image, layering to add fine detail and depth whilst adding tone and texture. A new area I am exploring is tinted charcoal pencils and coloured pencils with ink, am loving the detail and depth of colours these combinations can create.

Art for me is a continual journey of learning, improving and developing. I am very rarely satisfied with any piece I create, which pushes me on to improve and start the next one.
