Songster: Loughborough’s Own War Horse
Songster: Loughborough’s Own War Horse
Songster paraded with the Leicestershire Yeomanry in Loughborough Market Place in 1914 on the outbreak of World War 1. Along with its mount, Trooper Bert Main, it spent the next four years in France enduring all the horrors of war. Miraculously they both came through and returned to England and a more secure and leisurely life. This illustrated children’s book is an absolutely charming story of the close bond between man and horse. A children’s book, Songster’s story will delight both children and adults.
