About the Creative Exchange
The Creative Exchange covers the first floor at Coalville CAN and is a hub for creativity, collaboration and community! It’s a concept as much as a place, a welcoming and accessible space where people come together to share ideas and skills, learn and have a go, explore creativity and support one another.
At its heart is MAKERS, a shop where professionals, hobbyists and emerging creatives sell their work, experiment with new ideas, connect with others and grow in confidence together. Alongside this, the Gallery and Workshop spaces offer opportunities to discover new mediums, experience exhibitions, meet new people and take part in workshops firsthand. This space encourages collaboration over competition, nurtures curiosity and wellbeing, helps support a thriving local creative economy and brings people together!
We believe creativity should feel accessible, welcoming and part of everyday life, whether you’re a maker, someone rediscovering an old interest or someone who has never thought of themselves as creative at all. You don’t need experience, confidence or a particular skillset to visit!
We are committed to being a welcoming and inclusive space for the community, with accessible facilities including an accessibility toilet, step-free ground floor access and spaces designed to help people feel comfortable spending time here, including a Public Living Room where there is always a free cuppa.
To keep up with what’s happening in the space, upcoming opportunities, workshops, exhibitions and MAKERS news, and how to get involved, explore the creative exchange page on the website and follow us on our socials:
