Coalville CAN is a Community Benefit Society that works on:

  • Connection and Wellbeing - we activate communities by bringing opportunities to local residents, supporting clubs, and providing meaningful experiences to our contributors.
  • Sharing the learning - Coalville CAN shares thinking tools that help people solve problems and support their goals and helps local CICs and creatives to set up their businesses.
  • Community ownership - we have brought 2 buildings into community ownership, unlocked green spaces for community, and supported groups to find premises around Coalville.

    Israel from Gateway College finished his Digital Business T Level placement with Coalville CAN, working 315 hours and gaining real world experience.

    Vintage Vibes brought over 150 people together for an afternoon of music, memories and dancing at The Emporium.

    CCAN Crew and Contributors learnt how to provide energy advice and gave out 100 items to help keep houses warm.

  • Half Term Activities

    Over 400 children, young people, and families attended activites across Coalville organised by Coalville CAN and community partners.

    All three floors of CAN HQ were open with activities on 22nd February for an Open Day with over 250 visitors!

  • Unlocking Green Spaces

    Coalville CAN worked with The National Forest to build a map of local green spaces and surveyed local groups to support community engagement and break barriers to accessing green spaces.

  • British Sign Language

    Free British Sign Language Level 1 teaching was given to local residents to allow them to speak with deaf or hard of hearing community members.

  • Duke of Edinburgh

    Bespoke 1:1 training was provided to local young people, enabling them to achieve thier Duke of Edinburgh Gold and Silver awards.
