From selling and showcasing work to learning, collaborating and connecting, there are many opportunities to support and be part of CAN's ground floor creative exchange. You can find out more about a few of the available roles to support MAKERS below:

Merchandising and Displaying
Help keep MAKERS looking inviting, inspiring, and easy to shop. This role supports how work is displayed, refreshed, and presented, making sure the space feels vibrant and welcoming for visitors. It’s about noticing what works, suggesting improvements, and helping showcase Makers’ work in a way that tells a story and encourages discovery.

Stock Checking
Support the smooth running of MAKERS by helping with regular stock checks. This includes counting items, flagging low stock, and communicating clearly with the MAKERS team so we know what’s selling well. This role helps ensure accuracy, and trust across the community and supports all Makers to restock confidently and plan ahead.

Administration
Support the behind-the-scenes organisation of MAKERS by helping with admin tasks, primarily using Shopify. This includes updating products, checking sales, resolving queries and keeping records accurate and up to date. This role helps keep everything running smoothly and supports Makers by ensuring their work is represented correctly and professionally in the system.

Social Media Content Creation
Support the behind-the-scenes organisation of MAKERS by helping with admin tasks, primarily using Shopify. This role helps keep everything running smoothly and supports Makers by ensuring their work is represented correctly and professionally in the system.

Operating the Till
Support day-to-day sales by operating the till. As well as handling cash, you'd be supporting customers with things like packing gifts. This role creates a friendly experience for visitors while supporting MAKERS and sales. It’s a people-facing role that combines practical skills whilst having fun and meeting people!

Welcoming Visitors
Be a friendly face for MAKERS and Coalville CAN. This role is about meeting and greeting visitors, answering questions, and helping people feel comfortable and curious in the space. You’ll help signpost what’s happening, explain what MAKERS and the ground floor creative exchange is about, creating a warm, inclusive first impression.

Cleaning & Care
Help look after MAKERS by supporting regular cleaning such as dusting and light spring cleans. This role keeps the space feeling cared for, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone who uses it. It’s about shared responsibility and pride in the space, helping ensure MAKERS is a pleasant environment for visitors, Makers, and the wider community.

Connecting with Other Creatives Locally
Help grow the creative community and exchange by connecting with other creatives in Coalville and the surrounding area. This might include chatting at events, sharing information, or inviting people to get involved. The focus is on building relationships, encouraging collaboration, and helping the creative community grow together.

Sharing Flyers & Information
Support MAKERS and the creative exchange by helping share flyers, posters, and information both in-person and online. This role helps spread the word about events, workshops, opportunities, and maker stories, encouraging wider participation and connection across the community and increase footfall into MAKERS.
